The RF23M8090SG is Samsung's newest and most stylish counter-depth French door refrigerator that retails at $4,200. It's a good-looking model that boasts useful features like an autofill water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It also performed well in our cooling tests, though we're not too fond of its gimmicky polygon handles and the bins with a crisper design are a bit flimsy.
One thing that sets the RF23M8090SG apart is the Bespoke line that lets you personalize your fridge by removing colored panels that can be swapped when you're bored of the ones you have currently. There are 11 colors to choose from including soft pastels, more vibrant hues, and four metallic finishes. Some of these panels can be personalized with photos or text making the fridge a personal feature that can be matched to your tie-dye Crocs, Rick Owens dress or Andy Warhol banana neon sign.
You can even alter the color of the fridge's LED lighting, which is nice. The interior of the refrigerator has a smart finish which reduces smudges, and makes cleaning easy. The only flaws that really bother the RF23M8090SG are its crowded beverage center, and it takes some effort to open the door-indoor feature which houses a water dispenser as well as the pitcher. You need to look for a lever on the underside of the door midway across, and once you do the lever, it opens a second door within the refrigerator that houses the pitcher docking station as well as the water dispenser, and two shelves for drinks.
The 6.8 cubic-foot freezer compartment is big enough to accommodate a large amount of frozen foods and comes with an impressive slide-out drawer system that allows you to get the food you're looking for without opening the whole compartment. We've tested many of them, and this particular Frigidaire model has a higher than average score in our rating system for its reasonable price and thoughtful features, such as an adjustable temperature drawer.
It also has a few annoying problems. Our test data indicates that the FGHB2866PF is able to warm up quite some in the freezer, and it could get uncomfortable warm in the fridge's interior shelving. It's lacking advanced features and is made of a slender, flimsy material, making it difficult to recommend it over more expensive alternatives at this price.
This Frigidaire fridge is identical to the stainless steel version you might find in the local appliance store. It's a safe option with a polished finish that looks nice and is impervious to smudges, but it does not make a lot of an effort to differentiate itself from other brands that have more features and more affordable.
